Oculoplasty surgery is a branch of science that deals with all areas of the eye, namely eye diseases such as eyelids, tear ducts and eye sockets. The surgical treatments of this department are the application of the prosthetic eye, intraocular tumor, and the areas we call bags around the eyes.
With the oculoplasty eyelid surgery method, most people have proven successful results with this treatment for eyelids that directly affect our eyes. If we examine the current year and the past years, the most common and most common form of eyelid diseases is ptosis, in other words, eyelid droop. This disease can occur in one or both eyes. This disease can occur from birth, trauma, nervous diseases or any reason as age progresses. If the eyelid droop is congenital, it may be caused by disorders in the developmental stage of the levator eyebrow that lifts the eyelids. If this disease is encountered after aging, there is a flexing of the eyebrow, which is used to lift the eyelids. In some people, droopy eyelids may be minimal, but in others it may be advanced enough to prevent vision. Treatment of advanced droopy eyelids should be started immediately. If this disease is less and not advanced, it may require treatment before children start school. In the future, it can go from the deterioration of the patient's psychology to the feeling of discomfort in the society. If the treatment is congenital or due to aging, positive results can be achieved by shortening and strengthening the nerves that cause drooping of the eyelid and the muscles that lift the eyelid. An advanced droopy eyelid treatment is fixed to the forehead muscle with a treatment called a silicone band under the eyelid, and the patient's eyes are opened by pulling their eyebrows and raising their eyebrows. Other forms of treatment for these falls on the lids can be by surgically cutting the extra skin or reducing the fat layer around the eyes. If we talk about the construction of valve drooping surgery, chronic skin patients and people with autoimmune diseases cannot apply to this surgery. First, the excess eyelids are determined and marked, then the eye area is anesthetized if it will be done with local
anesthesia, or the patient is unconscious if it will be done with general anesthesia. A cut is made from the fold of the upper part of the eye and the lower part of the eyelashes. The sagging skin tissue or the fat layer in the lubricated eye bag is removed. After these procedures, it is checked whether there is bleeding and stitches are applied. It is closed by applying tape in strips on the cut area.
