Eyes shift or squint to lose sight of the eyes is to look at different aspects of eyeballs. This disorder, which is more common in children, affects 5 percent of children, but is less common in adults. While looking at the desired point in both eyes, the visual focus of the brain combines these two images and perceives it at a single point. In case of eye shift, in case of two different focal points of the brain, the brain suppresses the image of the shifted eye and gives a sense of depth and the vision provided in both eyes decreases. It is not a problem whether strabismus or crossed eye is in children or adults, patients of all ages can be treated. StrabismusSome of the problem occurs due to the refractive error. If the patient starts to use glasses, the strabismus due to refractive errors will be corrected. Closure, which is another treatment method, can be applied if there is laziness in the patient's eye. Congenital deformities, on the other hand, can be resolved with surgical intervention, without the need for glasses and with early diagnosis. The major cause of eye drift is due to muscle uncontrollability.
With the special examination methods to be performed by the ophthalmologist, the diagnosis is made by understanding whether the discomfort occurring in the eye is strabismus or crossed eye. In addition, false strabismus, which usually occurs in infants, shows the eyes turned inward with the wide nasal roots or the curling of the skin part on the inside of the eyelid. In such cases, the treatment of false strabismus is corrected with easier methods. However, early diagnosis will be better for children, because as age progresses, the eye becomes lazy and it may be too late for treatment. Although it is not known exactly why strabismus and strabismus occur, it is known to be related to functional, structural disorders in the muscles, imbalance and neurological problems. Imbalance in the muscles that enable the eye lens to move, diseases such as hydrocephalus, in which the brain centers controlling these muscles are affected, or conditions such as cataract or trauma affecting the eye, disrupt the visual plane of the eyes and cause shifting. There are more cases of squinting due to nervous problems. Accordingly, problems arising from the brain and nerve cells cause the eye muscles to slip. In some cases, cerebral palsy, premature birth, eye cancer, fluid retention in the brain, Diseases such as noonan syndrome, Down syndrome, brain injuries and brain tumors, trisomy 18 syndrome are among the biggest nervous factors that cause strabismus and crossed eyes. In addition, food poisoning, paralysis, traumatic accidents, loss of vision due to any reason in the eyes, eye injuries and blurriness, diabetes and guilliain barre syndrome are among the main causes of such problems.
As a result of the reasons mentioned above, patients with strabismus or gliding in their eyes can get rid of these problems by surgical intervention.
